A GoDaddy backup is useful for restoring the builder — it is not the same as a complete portable website migration.
GoDaddy’s own Websites + Marketing backup system is designed to restore site sections, text and settings inside the builder. GoDaddy notes that those backups do not include things such as blogs, products, appointments or images.
That is why we inventory the live website separately. We need to know what is on the pages, what business data matters, which forms or booking tools are being used and what needs recreating in WordPress before the old site is cancelled.

The newer Airo builder can give us actual project files and code — but that still does not make it WordPress.
GoDaddy currently allows Airo AI Builder projects to be downloaded as a ZIP containing the site or app files and code. That is materially different from the classic hosted builder and gives us more to work with.
However, WordPress has its own theme, plugin, media and database structure. An Airo project download therefore needs technical assessment rather than a promise that it can simply be “imported into WordPress”.

Airo for WordPress
If the site is already WordPress, leaving GoDaddy does not have to mean rebuilding it.
Airo for WordPress sits inside a WordPress setup. If the theme, content and functionality are sound, we can treat the job like any other WordPress takeover or hosting migration: back up the files and database, prepare the new environment, test it and switch the domain when ready.
This is exactly why identifying the product first matters. Selling a complete “GoDaddy to WordPress rebuild” to somebody who already has a perfectly usable WordPress site would be poor advice.

How do I know which GoDaddy website builder I have?
Tell us the domain and what you see in the GoDaddy dashboard. GoDaddy currently has several website products including Websites + Marketing, Airo AI Builder and Airo for WordPress. We can usually narrow down the platform before the call and confirm it with the account information later.
Can I move a GoDaddy Website Builder site directly into WordPress?
For classic Websites + Marketing, we normally plan a proper WordPress replacement rather than assume the complete working builder site will become a WordPress website automatically. We inventory the pages, content, images, products, appointments and other features before quoting.
Can Airo AI Builder export the website?
The current Airo AI Builder provides a project download containing files and code. That is useful, but WordPress uses its own theme, plugin and database structure, so a downloaded Airo project is not a one-click WordPress import. We inspect the code and assets to decide what can be reused.
What if my GoDaddy site already uses Airo for WordPress?
Then you already have WordPress. If the website is good, there may be no reason to rebuild it just to leave the current provider. We can assess a hosting migration, WordPress takeover or support arrangement instead.
Can I keep my domain registered with GoDaddy?
Usually, yes. Moving the website does not automatically require moving the domain registrar. We can leave the domain in the GoDaddy account and change the necessary DNS records when the replacement site is ready.
What happens to my email when the website moves?
We establish where email is hosted before touching DNS. If mailboxes use Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Zoho or another separate provider, they can normally stay there. If email is tied to the existing setup, we plan that part of the migration separately.
Can I keep the same GoDaddy website design?
Yes, where that makes sense. We can use the existing website as the visual reference, improve weak areas while keeping the branding familiar, or redesign it completely if the old design is part of the reason for moving.
Will leaving GoDaddy affect my Google rankings?
Any major website change can affect search performance if URLs, content and technical signals are handled carelessly. We inventory the existing site, preserve useful URLs where practical, map redirects and check the replacement after launch.
Is a GoDaddy to WordPress move priced as a migration?
