For most WordPress support requests we assess the work and provide a fixed quote. That gives the customer a clear scope and price rather than leaving the meter running while somebody investigates.
If you ask for additional work that was not included in the quote, or a genuinely separate issue appears once the agreed job is underway, that extra work is £30 per hour. We explain it rather than quietly adding it to the bill.

Our checker looks for WordPress and plugin version information that is publicly exposed by the website and compares visible plugin versions with WordPress.org. It does not log in and it does not need your email address.
It cannot prove that everything is healthy — well-secured sites may hide version information — but it is a useful first clue before paying somebody to investigate.

You do not automatically have to move it.
We can often complete one-off quoted WordPress jobs on suitable third-party hosting. If the server is part of the problem, we will say so, but moving hosting is not a condition of asking us to change a page or fix a plugin.
If you want Smarter Search to take ongoing responsibility for a WordPress website that remains on another company's hosting, that becomes a paid monthly support arrangement on a 12-month rolling contract. The monthly price depends on the website and the responsibility involved.

How do you charge for WordPress support?
Most work is assessed and quoted at a fixed price. If additional work is requested or discovered outside the agreed scope, that extra work is charged at £30 per hour after it has been explained.
Can you make very small WordPress changes?
Yes. Small content, image, contact-detail and layout changes are welcome. A job does not have to justify a monthly maintenance plan to be worth doing.
Can you support my WordPress site if it is hosted elsewhere?
Yes. One-off quoted work can often be completed on suitable third-party hosting. If you want Smarter Search to take ongoing responsibility while the site remains hosted elsewhere, that requires a paid monthly support arrangement on a 12-month rolling contract.
Do you develop custom WordPress plugins?
Yes. We are happy to assess and build custom plugins, integrations and bespoke functionality where that is the right technical solution.
Do I have to move my website hosting to you?
No. We only recommend a hosting move when there is a practical reason such as performance, access, reliability, cost or a technical requirement.
What is the free WordPress checker?
It checks public website information for WordPress and plugin version details that the site exposes. It cannot see everything inside the dashboard, but it is a useful no-sign-up first check.

Yes. We can offer a free website and SEO report as a broader starting point, highlighting useful issues or opportunities before you decide whether any additional work is worthwhile.
